This section covers the following: Definition/purpose of CPR, anatomy & physiology, clinical vs. biological death, cardiac arrest, signs & symptoms, EMS/911, PPE/universal precautions, victim preparation and medical/legal aspects
In this section, you will learn to determine responsiveness and activate EMS, assess your victim, how to perform CPR if necessary, precautions if you suspect a spinal or cervical injury, when to re-assess the victim and how to place the victim in the recovery position. You will also learn rescue breathing for an adult.
In this section, you will learn to determine responsiveness and activate EMS for a child victim. You will also learn how to assess your victim, how to perform Child CPR if necessary, precautions if you suspect a spinal or cervical injury. Also, when to re-assess the child victim, rescue breathing and how to place the victim in the recovery position.
In the Infant CPR section, you will learn to determine responsiveness and activate EMS for an infant victim. You will also learn the different steps to assess your victim as well as how to perform Infant CPR if necessary. Special precautions for infant victims if you suspect a spinal or cervical injury. We will cover when to re-assess the victim, rescue breathing and how to place the infant victim in the recovery position.
The AED section will teach you how and when to use an Automated External Defibrillator. When to activate EMS when an AED is available. How to use an AED on a child victim. Special precautions when using an AED.
In the Choking section, we will deal with Foreign Body Airway Obstructions or FBAO. You will learn how to perform the Heimlich Maneuver on a conscious adult or child and how to help a choking victim that has become unconscious. We will also cover how to assist an infant victim with an obstructed airway.
The conclusion of the course will recap some of the important skills learned in the course. We will also go over Compression-Only CPR as well as any special circumstances.
